Breakaway is a 6-player game that consists of 25 steps across 6 categories, Life questions, and General Knowledge.
Category Questions
In each game of Breakaway there are 6 categories to play. Each category should be fairly well-defined, but they do not have to be on "typical" quiz categories. For example, "Cars", "Technology", "Music Theory" would be acceptable categories. In each of the categories, 12 questions are required, to which of each question there is a single appropriate answer (alternatives can be defined). Questions should not be excessively long and should be answerable within a 15 second time limit.
Life Questions
After each of the first 4 categories are played, there is a Life Question played; Therefore, 4 Life Questions are required. A Life Question takes the form of a quiz-bowl style question, where the question describes a person, place or thing, drip-feeding information as the question progresses. The question should start out with very difficult clues to the correct answer, and progressively get easier and easier the further into the question you go. Critically, separate sentences with a new-line so that the question text prompter can correctly stop at the end of each sentence before moving on. As with Category Questions, there is one single appropriate answer, but alternatives can be defined.
General Knowledge Questions
The last 7 steps of the game are played in General Knowledge. The questions here are written in the exact same style as Category Questions, however they should be answerable within a 30 second time limit instead. 24 questions are required in General Knowledge, to which again there is a single appropriate answer (alternatives of course can be defined). Difficulty in this section should gradually increase, with the hardest questions at the end of the stack, which will be proffered at the 25th step of the game.
